Hello Readers,
Sorry to have disappeared for a few weeks. First, my computer broke, then I got sick, then there was a several-day wifi interruption. The perils of spending the summer in Mexico. My computer is still broken and will remain so until I return to the US, but the other problems are resolved and I have acquired an iPad keyboard, which is almost as good as a laptop, at least for blogging.
This week, I’ve been working on a posting schedule for The Lightning Conductor. Skip this post if you want to avoid spoilers and let the dates for receiving letters from Molly and company come as a happy surprise.
Like Dracula Daily, this project will be departing from the originally intended reading order in order to follow the chronological order of the letters. Will this ruin the dramatic tension or add to the narrative through dramatic irony? I can’t say, but I will make a note at the top of the post whenever we are reading out of (published) order, so that readers can decide the best course of action for themselves.
Below is the calendar of updates, twenty-four letters in all, spread across three months (November through January), sometimes with several letters in a day and sometimes going up to 12 days in a row with no letters. But that’s part of the charm of this epistolary format!
Next week, assuming no further issues with health or technology, I’ll be looking into the biographies of the authors of The Lightning Conductor. I might also post a review of Serial Reader - the app the splits classic literature into bite-sized daily chunk - either as an addendum to next week’s post or as its own post the following week.
Stay cool out there! There’s no better time to relax in a the shade with a refreshing drink and a good book.
